A huge part of the inspiration for setting up Cycling Generation was the environment around us! We are fortunate to live in one the wildest and most unspoilt counties in England. Both on and off road, there are opportunities for real adventure, fantastic riding, and big days out. This unique environment has also been central to the events offered by our friends at High Fell Events.
We would like you to join us on the evening of the 14th July, till 16th of July for two full days exploring and enjoying our unique Northumbrian environment!
The Clennel Colossus and Breamish Behemoth mountain bike challenge events, ran by High Fell Events, are both staged in the awe inspiring central Cheviots. The events take in huge climbs, VERY long and sometimes VERY fast descents, as well as fun technical sections and some ‘unique’ borderlands features! (Past participants will nod knowingly!) The scenery is stunning; fells rolling towards the horizon for as far as the eye can see, unless of course you are in a valley, where your neck cranes to see the tops! It’s unusual to see buildings, people, or even a road in these parts (in over 40 miles, the Colossus took in approximately 1 mile of tarmac!).
At Cycling Generation we are keen to get people out enjoying this little known border gem of an area. Maybe you would like to dip your toe in the Cheviots before taking part in one of the High Fell Events mountain bike events? Or perhaps you simply fancy a weekend away in a new environment with likeminded riders?
Cycling Generation are hosting a riding weekend on the 15th and 16th of July for these reasons and more. On the afternoon of Friday 14th you will check in to the beautiful Clennel Hall for your evening meal and a drink in the beer garden, enjoying unspoilt views of the surrounding hills. Saturday and Sunday will be spent riding the stunning Cheviot hills with local knowledge taking you to all the best trails. Saturday evening will be time to socialise and relax, but we will also be running a workshop on skills and preparation for mountain bike endurance challenges. During the rides, and throughout the weekend, there will also be skills coaching tuition for those who would like it.
- Two nights dinner, bed, and breakfast in Clennel Hall bunk house
- Packed lunches for two days including local produce
- Guiding and mechanical support for the weekend from an expert qualified guide
- Collection and drop off from Morpeth train station if required
The price for this unique weekend is £145. Places are limited to 12 riders, based on two shared rooms. Please note: separate male and female accommodation can be arranged.
